With BlueEdgeSM Health Care Account (HCA), your clients can have secure access to online tools to help manage their company’s health insurance plan. Employees can access tools to help decide if BlueEdge is right for them and after enrollment, they can use online resources to help manage their health insurance plan and health care.

Blue Access for EmployersSM

Blue Access for Employers enables employees to review membership, employee eligibility and activity, billing, account summary and product information. They can also make membership changes and request reports.

BlueEdge Advisor

For members, the BlueEdge Advisor: Health Care Budget tool asks questions about their health and health care expenses to see how BlueEdge will fit their budget.

Blue Access for MembersSM

Blue Access for Members lets BlueEdge members review the status of their Health Care Accounts (including current balance, payments made to date and year-to-year rollover amounts), check the status of a claim, view the Explanation of Medical Benefits and confirm who is covered under their plan. Members can receive an e-mail when Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas finalizes their claims and opt to stop receiving paper copies of Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

The Care Comparison® Tool

Found within Blue Access for Members, the Care Comparison® Tool lets members quickly compare hospitals, based on specific diagnoses and procedures. They can search and compare hospital performance factors such as length-of-stay, the number of procedures performed and complication rates.

Personal Health Manager

An online tool enables employees to set up a personal health record to keep track of their health information within Blue Access for Members. With their permission, this record can be accessed by their doctors, family and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas nurses to facilitate their care. Employees can receive wellness advice such as alerts for screening tests and vaccinations and targeted e-mails to help them better manage their condition.

Welcome Call

Within one month of enrollment, employees will usually receive a call from a BlueEdge expert to help them better understand BlueEdge and how to maximize the benefits of BlueEdge. The welcome call provides a convenient opportunity to get answers to questions that your employees may have about their health insurance plan.
